A Passion for the Lost
It is so easy to say that you have no passion to go out and reach the lost, we end up praying for this passion, sometimes we even try to work it up by ourselves, but it does not seem to come. That is were we get it wrong.
We are not called to work up a passion, we are told in Mark 1:17 to follow the Jesus. It is when we follow Him, that He gives us the passion for souls and makes us fishers of men. Once Jesus does this, then we can go out there are start bringing in the souls to His kingdom.
Skilled fishermen know how to bring in the fish, so likewise it is Jesus that equips us to go out there and bring in the souls, but again I repeat, it starts with following the Lord Jesus.
The question that now comes to mind is, what does it actually mean to follow Jesus? When Jesus walked the earth, following for His disciples meant them literally dropping everything that they were formally engaged in and physically following Jesus. Jesus then invested His life into them to make them fishers of men.
So, for us it would be similar, it would mean letting go of the things that take up most of our God-given time and actually start to seek the Lord Jesus for our life. We may even need to ask Jesus to bring us back to our first love of Him, or even ask Him to remind us of where He brought us from. The disciples saw Jesus as the saviour of Israel, we need to again, see Jesus as the saviour of our life. If we desire to know Him and abide in Him, then He will start to produce His fruit in our life.
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
John 15:4-5
Just as the father of the child with the dumb and deaf spirit cried out to Jesus "Lord, I believe, help my unbelief" (Mark 9:24), we to need to cry out to the Lord to help our unbelief. With Him all things are possible. He can make us fishers of men, no matter what past or background we came from. He is more than able to change us and fill us with His passion for souls. Try calling on Him today.
18 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth. 19 He will fulfil the desire of those who fear Him, He also will hear their cry and save them.(Psalm 145:18-20)
KIVI has a heart for souls because they are sold out to Jesus, and know what it means to follow the leading of the Lord. It is only in His power that souls can be snatched from the power of hell. KIVI will in obedience, keep casting the nets and God will keep filling them.
